Hydrocele of the Tunica Vaginalis Connected through the Inguinal Canal, with a Large Cyst Situated within the Abdomen; Cured by Repeated Injections of Iodine

On examination it was found that he had a hydrocele of the right tunica vaginalis, which reached lip along the inguinal canal by a well-defined neck that terminated within the abdomen, just behind the internal abdominal ring, in a large globular tumour occupying the hypogastric region, and extending upwards through the greater part of the umbilical region, and on the right side into the right lumbar region. The bladder was emptied by means of a catheter, and it was then apparent that the abdominal tumour was a cyst which yielded a distinct sense of fluctuation and of repercussion ; that this cyst was connected by means of a narrow neck extending through the inguinal canal with the hydrocelic tumour of the tunica vaginalis.
